Synopsis: What can we believe in?

‘Kingdom of the Lie’ is a heavy metal musical-theatre work based on the classical biblical text the ‘Book of Ezekiel’. This surreal ensemble performance showcases the journey of the priest Ezekiel, who is tasked by God to deliver judgement onto the once perfect - but now ungrateful and rebellious - city of Jerusalem. This story is a warning of how always seeking the ‘quick fix’ in life leads our own lives to collapse, and is the reason why entire cities of old, too, have fallen. Ezekiel’s agonising journey is focused around how leading a virtuous life is the cure, and affirms the importance of taking accountability for our own actions, as well as for the well-being of the world around us. Heroes always compromise. Do we always need to call them into action? What can we believe in amidst chaos?
