Synopsis: Two young women. Two worlds. Both at breaking point.

It’s November 2017. On the south coast of New South Wales, Emily has forgotten her nephews’ birthday party and can’t get her ex-boyfriend to answer her texts. Meanwhile, in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Jana’s quick trip to the grocery store places her right in the middle of the European refugee crisis. At opposite ends of the globe, these stories unfold in parallel — tender, raw, and deeply human. With no caped crusaders coming to the rescue, Superheroes asks: what does it really mean to be responsible for our choices? And what does being a hero actually look like? Threaded together through twinned monologues and devastating moments of connection, Mark Rogers’ award-winning play crackles with humour, heartbreak, and hope. Staged by the acclaimed team behind Naked & Screaming (Winner, Best Production – 2022 Matilda Awards), Superheroes comes to Magandjin for the first time in a production that’s equal parts savage, tender, and electric.
