Synopsis: Margot Mason, celebrated pioneer of the 1970s Women’s Liberation movement and fearless academic, once shook the world with her groundbreaking The Cerebral Vagina. Now, thirty years later, she’s stuck in the grip of writer’s block.

Enter Molly — an unannounced visitor, devoted fan, and… gun-wielding would-be killer. Blaming Margot for ruining her mother’s life, Molly’s unexpected hostage-taking sets the stage for Joanna Murray-Smith’s deliciously wicked comedy, balancing razor-sharp satire and farce.

Inspired by Germaine Greer’s real-life experience of being held captive in her Essex country home in 2000, The Female of the Species proves that the female is not only deadlier, but far funnier, than the male.
