About the Buzzies

The Stage Buzzie Awards honour the vibrant creativity of Queensland’s independent and community theatre scene, recognising exceptional productions staged between 1 January and 20 December 2025.

 

The Buzzies recognise work across the broader South-East Queensland region, including: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Redlands, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Redcliffe, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, and surrounding areas.​​

How the Awards Work

Nominations are submitted by objective members of the arts community, including reviewers from a variety of platforms and publications. Nominees for all categories will be announced on 20 December 2025.


All nominations are assessed with the following overarching criteria:

  • Craft and execution

  • Impact and emotional resonance

  • Technical merit

  • Storytelling clarity

  • Overall cohesion of the work

Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy.
