BALLET: Bespoke - QLD Ballet

31 July 2025

Season: July 31st - August 9th, 2025

Title: Bespoke

Presented By: Queensland Ballet

Genre: Contemporary Dance

Synopsis: Now in its eighth thrilling year, Bespoke returns with three world premieres by celebrated choreographers Amelia Waller, Yolande Brown, and Robert Binet. This daring triple bill explores identity, culture, and the human body through the lens of contemporary dance—blending striking movement with innovation, story, and collaboration.

  • Curious Beings by Amelia Waller explores memory, identity, and self-discovery through the eyes of artificially created beings, inspired by Poor Things and brought to life with Dead Puppet Society.

  • Canopy – Cool Burn by Yolande Brown is a moving response to the rich cultural history of K’Gari (Fraser Island), developed in conversation with Butchulla man Fred Leone.

  • Newborn Giants by Robert Binet is a collaboration with blind Theatre Artist and Professor Devon Healey, weaving immersive descriptive audio (IDA) through dance to explore perception and imagination.

Together, these works push the boundaries of dance and leave audiences transformed.
