Title: Waru – journey of the small turtle

Synopsis: Under the starry skies of the Torres Strait, a green turtle named Migi begins her journey back to the beach where she was born. In this contemporary saltwater Lagaw Kazil (Island Children) story, inspired by the totemic system of the green turtle, Migi faces a journey of survival and discovery. Waru – journey of the small turtle is an immersive introduction to Torres Strait Islander culture and dance for children aged 3-7. Created by Stephen Page alongside Hunter Page-Lochard, Sani Townson, and Elma Kris, this work encourages important conversations about climate change, environmental care, and cultural values of respect and reciprocity.
