Synopsis: Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle (“Little Solemn Mass”), written in 1863, is a luminous late masterpiece that blends sacred devotion with operatic flair. Far from “little” or simply solemn, the work features radiant choral writing, expressive solo arias, and moments of playful brilliance.

Scored for choir, four soloists, two pianos, and harmonium, the performance showcases over 100 artists on stage. This collaboration with The University of Queensland highlights Rossini’s unique fusion of theatrical energy and spiritual depth, creating a powerful celebration of choral music and human expression.
