Season: October 3rd, 2026
Title: UTC’s Playground Festivals ’24–’26
Presented By: Underground Theatre Company, as part of Backbone Festival 2026
Genre: New Australian writing/staged readings/emerging theatre
Synopsis: This event presents three intimate staged readings selected from Underground Theatre Company’s Playground Festivals in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Each work was developed through UTC’s Writers Room, a two-month training program in which emerging playwrights create short scripts with support from the company’s development officer. Playground brings together new writers, directors, performers, technicians and designers, operating as both a testing ground for new Australian writing and a launchpad for emerging creatives. Ticket proceeds support the continuation of UTC’s creative-development programs.
