Synopsis: Written in 1979, Amadeus is one of playwright Peter Shaffer’s most acclaimed works. The play follows court composer Antonio Salieri as he recounts his obsession with the extraordinary talent of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Once filled with admiration, Salieri becomes consumed by jealousy as he struggles to reconcile Mozart’s genius with his own mediocrity. What follows is a darkly comic psychological battle, as Salieri wages a private war against Mozart and the God he believes has betrayed him.
