Season: August 5th - 8th, 2026

Title: Gunawarra Re-Creation

Presented By: ILBIJERRI Theatre Company, presented by QPAC as part of Clancestry 2026

Genre: First Nations Theatre / Contemporary Drama

Synopsis: Step into a powerful story of culture, memory and healing in this moving new theatre work by Taun Wurrung writer Isobel Morphy-Walsh.

When Murrun returns to a sacred watering hole once shared with Aunty Aggie, the past and present collide. There she reconnects with Gunawarra—the Black Swan—and together they journey through stories of creation, cultural continuity and the enduring strength of Blak women. Inspired by the traditional Kulin story of Gunawarra and set on Taungurung Country, this deeply moving play explores the passing of culture between three generations of women while confronting trauma, survival and healing.
