THEATRE: Scenes From a Yellow Peril - The Reaction Theory, QPAC

3 July 2025

Season: July 3rd - 12th, 2025

Title: Scenes From a Yellow Peril

Presented By: QPAC and The Reaction Theory

Genre: Theatre / Poetic Mixtape / Political Satire

Synopsis: Less a traditional play and more a punchy, poetic mixtape, Scenes From a Yellow Peril is an uncomfortably funny and eye-opening work from award-winning Chinese-New Zealand writer Nathan Joe. This Matilda Award-winning production examines racism, identity, and privilege through biting humour and poetic storytelling. Brought to life by a bold ensemble of emerging Queensland performers, the show unpacks the lived experience of being Asian in today’s political and cultural climate, both in Australia and Aotearoa. It’s raw, it’s sharp, and it’s deeply resonant.
