THEATRE: The Cane - PIP Theatre

31 July 2025

Season: July 31st - August 9th, 2025

Title: The Cane

Presented By: PIP Theatre

Genre: Australian Drama / Psychological Family Thriller

About: The Cane is a raw and haunting new Australian work that delves deep into the decaying remnants of family, grief, and the lingering ghosts of memory.

Set on a crumbling sugarcane farm in the volatile landscape of North Queensland, siblings Pandora and Peter are held captive by the grief of their past. Pandora refuses to leave the home that took their mother and sister. Peter drifts through the days, numb and compliant. Their silence is interrupted by William, the eager boy next door, who believes he holds the key to their healing—whether they want it or not. This tightly-wound 90-minute play is a chilling meditation on isolation, intergenerational trauma, and the quiet violence of unspoken pain. A compelling and emotionally fraught story that reminds us that sometimes, the only way out is through.
