Synopsis: It’s not just about a sport. It’s about a revolution.
In 2010, an official report into Australian Rules Football recommended the creation of a national women’s league. Seven years, plenty of grit, passion and fancy footwork later, the AFLW was born.
Celebrated Australian playwright Suzie Miller (Prima Facie, RBG: Of Many, One, Inter Alia) turns her attention to the formation of the AFLW in this explosive world premiere. Strong Is The New Pretty tells the story of how the league grew from a pipe dream into a sporting sensation that could no longer be ignored. Described by Miller as both a love letter to Australian women and a call for the classic Aussie “fair go” to include all Australians, it is a story of determination, legacy, pride and change.
