Title: Backbone Theatre for Babies: What’s in the Woods?

Presented By: Backbone Youth Arts, in collaboration with company-in-residence Brymore Productions

Genre: Early-childhood sensory theatre / interactive storytelling / puppetry and play


Synopsis: A developmentally appropriate theatre program for infants and toddlers and their caregivers. Families enter a soft woodland environment, enjoy an interactive story around the campfire and then explore the space through guided sensory play. Each seasonal session features a different story, design, theme and collection of sensory experiences.

Thursday 24 September 2026 — Winter

Ticket Costs: A Four Seasons Package is available for $65 plus booking fee. Bookings of four or more tickets receive a 10% discount. Individual-session prices are displayed when selecting tickets through Humanitix (From $10)

Warnings: The sessions include sensory activities; caregivers may wish to contact Backbone regarding individual sensory or access requirements.

Recommended Age: Infants and toddlers aged 0–3 with their parents or caregivers. Older siblings are welcome, although the environment is designed specifically for babies and toddlers.

Duration: Approximately 45 minutes, consisting of:

  • 20 minutes of performance

  • 25 minutes of guided sensory play

Other information: 

  • The venues are wheelchair accessible and provide baby-changing facilities, pram parking and caregiver resources.

  • Children are encouraged to bring a favourite teddy to the Teddy Bears’ Picnic

  • Refunds are available until one day before the relevant session.
