Synopsis: East High is buzzing with energy as students return from winter break. Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians, and Skater Dudes reunite with their cliques and prepare for the new year ahead. But everything changes when basketball captain Troy Bolton and the newly enrolled Gabriella Montez — a girl he met singing karaoke on holiday — surprise everyone by auditioning for the school musical. Their unexpected choice throws the school into disarray, challenging the social order, irking the reigning musical diva Sharpay, and even causing friction within their own friendships. Yet, their courage to follow their passions just might inspire others to break out of their boxes too.
