Title: The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband

Presented By: Sandgate Theatre Inc.

Genre: Dark Comedy

Synopsis: Kenneth and Hilary have been married for twenty years. Life is safe, comfortable, and painfully routine — until Kenneth decides to trade his marriage for a younger, shinier option in Laura. What follows is a sharp, witty, and increasingly absurd examination of relationships, fidelity, and revenge, culminating in a dinner party that takes the concept of “just desserts” to a whole new level. Debbie Isitt’s hit comedy serves up love, jealousy, and the darker side of human nature with deliciously biting humour.

  • Kenneth — Mid-40s to mid-50s. A middle-aged man who believes he is far more charming than he actually is. Bumbling, self-absorbed, and deeply flawed, Kenneth is a man-child in constant need of validation. Strong comedic timing required, with the ability to balance humour and pathos.

  • Laura — 20s to mid-30s. Vibrant, sharp, and the catalyst for chaos. Energetic, seductive, and calculating, Laura represents everything “new and exciting” that Kenneth thinks he wants. Requires high energy, sharp wit, and strong comedic instincts.
