JUNIOR AUDITION NOTICE: Frozen Jr. - Phoenix Arts Academy

Synopsis: In the kingdom of Arendelle, Princess Elsa’s magical powers to create ice and snow are a gift… but also a danger. After an accident causes her to hide away, her younger sister Anna sets out on an epic journey to bring her home. Along the way, Anna teams up with a rugged ice harvester, a loyal reindeer, and a talking snowman in a story of love, courage, and sisterhood. Frozen JR brings the beloved Disney film to the stage with unforgettable songs, magic, and heart.


Audition Date: Saturday 30 August 2025

Audition Times & Sessions:

  • 9:00am–10:00am – Young Elsa & Young Anna auditions

  • 10:00am–11:30am – Junior Ensemble group audition

  • 12:00pm–1:30pm – Leads & Senior Ensemble group audition

  • 2:00pm–5:00pm – Leads & Senior Ensemble individual audition

Audition Location: Phoenix Ensemble, Beenleigh Showgrounds (enter via 60 James Street, Beenleigh QLD)


Audition Requirements:

  • Junior Ensemble: Group dance & song workshop (no preparation required).

  • Young Anna & Young Elsa: Prepare 30–60 seconds of a Disney song with a backing track (no lead vocals). Bring playback device or USB.

  • Lead Roles & Senior Ensemble: Group singing/dance workshop + individual audition (30–60 seconds of a Disney song with backing track, plus acting scenes – cold read in pairs).

Rehearsal Dates: Monday 22 September – Friday 3 October 2025, 9:00am–3:00pm daily (Junior Ensemble not required for all sessions; full schedule provided after casting)

Available Roles / Character Breakdown:

  • Lead Roles: All lead roles will sing solos and have dialogue to memorise.

    • ELSA – Princess, and later, Queen of Arendelle, with magical powers; initially a doting sister to Anna, but becomes isolated due to fear of her powers.

    • ANNA – Princess of Arendelle, a spirited troublemaker who is lonely and longing for connection, especially with her sister.

    • KRISTOFF – an ice harvester with a prickly exterior but a big heart.

    • HANS – the charming Prince of the Southern Isles who craves a sense of belonging and power and proves that first impressions can be wrong.

    • OLAF – a goofy and loving magical snowman who dreams of experiencing summer.

    • SVEN – Kristoff’s loyal reindeer best friend who can only be understood by Kristoff.

    • YOUNG ANNA and YOUNG ELSA – solo singing and dialogue.

  • Senior Ensemble: The senior ensemble will participate in group singing, dancing and scenes as well as being leaders in the Junior Ensemble scenes.

    • KING AGNARR – King of Arendelle and protective father to Anna and Elsa.

    • QUEEN IDUNA – Queen of Arendelle and descendant of the Northern Nomads; loving mother to Anna and Elsa.

    • MIDDLE ANNA and MIDDLE ELSA – solo singing and dialogue.

    • WESELTON – an impolite and judgmental Duke from a neighbouring kingdom.

    • PABBIE and BULDA – the mystical and magical leaders of the Hidden Folk; Kristoff’s adoptive parents.

    • BISHOP – The Bishop of Arendelle, tasked with overseeing the succession of the monarchy.

    • OAKEN – an amiable wandering salesperson and advocate of hygge.

    • ENSEMBLE: Townspeople, Hidden Folk, Castle Staff (including Housekeeper, Butler, Handmaiden, Cook, Steward), Oaken’s Family, Snow Chorus, Summer Chorus.

  • Junior Ensemble - There may be some solo singing or dialogue lines for these performers.

    • ENSEMBLE: Snow Chorus, Summer Chorus, Hidden Folk.
