Synopsis: "Medea," a classic Ancient Greek tragedy, takes a unique perspective in this reimagined version by Kate Mulvany and Anne-Louise Sarks. Told entirely through the eyes of Medea's young sons, Jasper and Leon, this internationally celebrated production offers a tender, surprising, and bittersweet portrayal of one of history's most misunderstood mothers. The brothers' bedroom becomes a fortress, their haven, as they navigate the escalating conflicts between their parents, unknowingly hurtling towards an iconic and tragic fate.
Casting Details:
Roles: Jasper (Younger brother, playing age: 8–10) and Leon (Older brother, playing age: 10–12)
Number of Actors: Four young male actors (Brisbane-based only)
Experience: Previous acting work is a plus but not necessary. Actors do not need professional representation.
Character Requirements: Actors must have a strong and confident stage presence. The ability to engage in make-believe and portray the world set in the siblings' bedroom is vital. The play unfolds over the course of a single evening, with actors on stage for approximately 70 minutes.

Rehearsals: Part-time during the Easter School Holidays and the first 3 weeks of Term Two, working around study commitments. The schedule will be negotiated with parents and educators.
