Synopsis: Inspired by the beloved film, Anastasia transports audiences from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the glamour of Paris in the 1920s. A brave young woman sets out to uncover the mystery of her past, pursued by a relentless Soviet officer while travelling alongside a charming conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat.
Audition Date: Saturday 11 July – Sunday 12 July 2026
Audition Self-Tape Due (if applicable): Dance video submission required with application.
Audition Requirements:
Complete online application.
Prepare the provided audition song and dialogue from the audition pack.
Learn the entire verse of the music excerpt (not just Little Anastasia's line).
Dialogue must be performed in a General American accent.
Submit the required pre-recorded dance audition using the choreography provided.

Initial audition consists of group singing. Selected performers may remain for scene work on the same day.
Final callbacks (if invited) will take place the following day and include singing, scene work and the submitted dance combination.

Performance Location: Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), Brisbane
Rehearsal Dates: Contract commences approximately early September 2026. Brisbane rehearsals commence mid-September 2026.
Warnings:
Not all applicants will receive an audition.
Parts of the audition process may be filmed for casting, marketing and publicity (participants will be given the opportunity to opt in or out if applicable).
Applicants must live within approximately 45 minutes' travel of QPAC (proof of address required at auditions).
Performer Age:
Must be 10 years old by 9 September 2026.
Height restriction: 145 cm maximum.

The production welcomes performers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, performers with disabilities, and performers of all gender identities and body types.
Successful child performers will receive training from the Associate Director, Musical Director and Resident Choreographer and will rehearse alongside the adult company.
Available Roles/Character Breakdown:
Little Anastasia - (Female presenting, playing age 7–9)
The spirited, courageous and kind-hearted youngest daughter of the Tsar of Russia, devastated when her beloved grandmother leaves Russia. Requires a strong mover, a beautiful soprano voice, and a confident General American accent.
Alexei Romanov - the Tsar's energetic young son and heir, who lives with haemophilia.
Maximum height: 145 cm.
