AUDITION NOTICE: "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" at Brisbane Arts Theatre!

Brisbane Arts Theatre invites theatre enthusiasts, regardless of gender, abilities, backgrounds, and ethnicities, to audition for our Mainhouse production of William Shakespeare's timeless classic, "A Midsummer Night’s Dream." This is an opportunity to be part of a vibrant and inclusive production that promises to blend the magic of Athens with the enchantment of a local forest.

Audition Details:

  • Date: Sunday, February 18, 2024

  • Time: 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

  • Location: Lavalla Centre - 58 Fernberg Road, Paddington

Opportunities for All: We welcome individuals of all genders, abilities, backgrounds, and ethnicities to join us in bringing this classic comedy to life. Auditions will be conducted in groups, providing a collaborative and supportive environment with up to 10 people per slot.

Synopsis: In "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," the residents of Athens find themselves entangled with mischievous fairies from a nearby forest, leading to hilarious and magical consequences. The Duke of Athens, Theseus, is set to marry the queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta. Meanwhile, Bottom the weaver and his friends venture into the woods to rehearse a play for the upcoming wedding celebrations, setting the stage for whimsical chaos.

Rehearsal and Performance Season:

  • Rehearsals: Monday and Wednesday nights (7:00 PM - 10:00 PM) and Sunday (3:00 PM - 8:00 PM).

  • Technical Rehearsals: From Sunday, March 21, to Friday, May 3. Note: Not all cast members will be required for the entire technical period.

  • Production Season: May 4 to June 1, with performances on Friday and Saturday nights and some Sunday matinees.

How to Audition:

  • Prepare a short monologue from any Shakespearean play or a comedic piece.

  • Be ready for some group improvisation exercises.
