Available Roles / Character Breakdown:

  • Robert Chiltern - The epitome of an honourable, well-respected man, looked up to by all. But when a dark secret from his past is revealed, he must find a way to hide his mistakes and prevent his world from collapsing.

  • Gertrude Chiltern - Just as well respected as her husband, and for good reason, she cannot tolerate dishonesty in any form. But will her high standards mean she lacks forgiveness? When she discovers her husband’s true past, her love for him is put to the test.

  • Mabel Chiltern - Gertrude’s younger sister. Sweet and innocent, but with a feisty sense of humour. Her zest for life occasionally pushes the boundaries of acceptable behaviour for a young girl in the 1890s. Only she could possibly capture the attention of the perpetually single Lord Goring.

  • Lord Goring - A confirmed bachelor and thoroughly flippant man about town. But his roughish charm disguises a deep sincerity — a veil which, despite his best efforts, occasionally slips to reveal a man of great fortitude.

  • Lord Caversham - Driven to distraction by his wayward son, Lord Goring. If only he could convince him to settle down like a proper gentleman.

  • Mrs Chevely - Behind her elegant and charming demeanour is a woman who knows where all the bodies are buried. She has achieved her fortune through single-minded ruthlessness, and now she has come for Robert. But her armour is not complete; she has a weak spot.

  • Lady Markby - A perfect example of 19th-century London society. A woman deeply concerned with everything that does not matter, and entirely unconcerned with anything that does.

  • Lady Basildon - Appears in one scene only. A companion and, in all ways, an equal of her friend Lady Markby.

  • Phipps - Appears in one scene only. Lord Goring’s long-suffering servant.
