About the Show

Chess, The Musical is set during the Cold War, featuring two chess masters competing for the world championship in Bangkok. The story intertwines political intrigue and a complex love triangle involving the American and Russian competitors and a Hungarian refugee.

Audition Information

  • Audition Dates:

  • 29th and 30th June 2024

  • Location: Crete Street Theatre, Beenleigh

  • Dance Call: Attend one of the following:

  • Saturday, 29 June: 9am - 11am

  • Sunday, 30 June: 10am - 12pm

  • Booth Singer Auditions: Group vocal audition on Sunday, 30 June: 11am - 12pm.

  • Callbacks: Tuesday, 2 July 2024, 7:00pm at Crete Street Theatre.

  • Eligibility: Auditionees must be 16+ at the time of auditions.

  • Songs: Prepare 2 contrasting songs (1-1.5 minutes each) that showcase vocal range. Bring your own backings (phone attachments available). Choose one song that highlights your lyrical singing and another that showcases different skills (e.g., patter, character-building, emotional range). Select songs that match the musical style and vocal range of the character you're auditioning for.
