AUDITION NOTICE: "The Last of the De Mullins" at Villanova Theatre Players

Join the Villanova Players Theatre for auditions of "The Last of the De Mullins," a feminist comedy-drama set in 1908 Edwardian England. Directed by Bruce Parr, this play unfolds the story of a once-prosperous noble family and a headstrong heroine, exploring societal expectations and familial dynamics.

ABOUT THE PLAY: "Last of the De Mullins" revolves around Janet De Mullin, who, after a brief affair, runs away to London, giving birth in anonymity. Nine years later, she returns to the family home, challenging societal norms and her father's tyrannical expectations.


AUDITION FORMAT:


CHARACTERS: The roles of JANE, HARRIET, HESTER, JOHNNY, HUGO & MR BROWN have been cast

  • Hugo De Mullin: The patriarch

  • Jane De Mullin: His wife

  • Harriet (Mrs Clouston): Hugo's sister

  • Janet De Mullin (Mrs Seagrave): The liberated daughter

  • Johnny Seagrave: Her son

  • Hester De Mullin: Janet's sister

  • Bertha Aldenham: Sunshine, charm, and intelligence

  • Monty Bulstead: A man with a strong moral core

  • Dr Rolt: The local doctor

  • Mr Brown: The curate

  • Miss Deanes: The town gossip

  • Ellen: Maid at the De Mullins’

REHEARSALS:

  • Commence June 2024

  • Mondays and Wednesdays: 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

  • Sundays: 11 am - 3 pm (Flexible schedule)


PERFORMANCES:

  • August 23 - September 1, 2024
